I have seen a number of posts about the cost of repairs to JLC watches. I have owned this memovox since new for 25 years. It has just come back from its second complete overhaul - cost 825 pounds sterling - and it is like a new watch.
You get what you pay for. |

OK, but why is a Rolex standard overhaul about 1/3 to 1/4 the price? JLC takes people to the cleaners on their overhauls combined with scare 3rd party parts availabilty, it ends up limiting the value of their vintage watches. |

825 Pounds Sterling is about $1450 US$ at todays exchange rate. I sent my watch for repair to JLC and they needed $75 to ship, a $500 minimum repair and at least a 8-10 week delay until they could even look at the watch to provide an estimated cost to repair. MINIMUM cost to repair was $500. That was the minimum. Got a very reputable expert here in the USA who turned the watch around in 3 - 4 weeks. The watch is a vintage JLC circa 1945 with a P478 movement and after repair it looks great. JLC refurb/repair costs are way out of line. |
