Hi to all,

a watch dealer offers me a rectangular JLC from the early 40-ties.
Some questions:

Are case and dial original ?
What is the estimated value (if all parts are original) of the timepiece ?

Much thanks in advance.

Cheers
Dieter

Hello Ilja,

you're absolut right. But in my first post I've tried to upload two scans.
I'm not sure what's going wrong. Is the "Upload attachment" the correct feature ?

I try it again !

Cheers
Dieter

Hi Dieter,

you found my favorite rectangular model!
Its called "Etanche", one of the very first waterproof LeCoultre watches.

Tricky thing one these is the crystal, its set like a stone and usually is facetted.
This crystal looks like a replacement, but not a bad one though.
Watch is surely US market, given the signature on case and VXN stamp on movement.
So dial doesnt belongs to the watch, but pretty much looks like an original dial.
Since these watch are rare, to name a price is difficult. They sell from EUR 1400 to 2400.

Thanks for your fast answer Ilja !

Seller offers me the watch for 2.500 Euro. Taking into account that the dial doesn't belong to the watch a lot of money.
What do you think.

As an alternative I would prefer a vintage Reverso model. Are chances to find one for maximum 3.000 Euro ?

Kind Regards
Dieter

I might be able to offer you an Etanche for EUR 1800. Its not finished yet but can be within 2-3 weeks. Email me privately if interested.

It should be possible to find a vintage Reverso for EUR 3000, but dont expect a mint example than.
