Could someone please help me identify this watch and give an approximate value?
Sorry for the rough pics.
Thanks for your time.

I believe this model is called the "Shark" your example is an American market piece, dates from about 1970-1971 or so. Value is in the $1800-2000 range, more if pristine, less if beat up.

Thanks for feedback, Zaf.
I was doing some reading on the web and it turns out that there were some people questioning the authenticity of similar watches such as these coming out of Germany. http://www.halem.de/content/main_artikel_detail.php?sprache=us&id=256&spage=8&ty p=1
Have you heard of this? Should I be concerned?

Also, what type of movement does my watch have? Is there any way to tell without opening? If not, what do I look for when it is open?
Thanks again.

Your watch is having a Valjoux 72 movement.
No need to be concerned, your watch is original as far one can tell from pictures.

The Germany based watch you linked to is
questionable. But JLC Chronographs are hard to judge anyway since they are mainly assembled by the factory using widely available 3rd party cases, movements.

I agree with Ilja, your watch is correct. I'm not convinced the "Breguet" style one you show as an example is the real deal however. I think I have a pretty good idea who made these watches up however. The guy is such a master faker, that they're very difficult to distinguish from the real deal.

Thanks again,
I went to a watchmaker today and he opened it up for me. Written on the movement is "E2643". Does this help you guys any?

E2643 would be what is written on the CASE BACK not the movt. The movement is a Valjoux 72.
