I have a 14kt LeCoultre automatic Master Mariner watch from 1964 or 1965. It has not been worn in a while and it's been running slow. I sent it to Jaeger-LeCoultre North America for a clean oil and adjust and they are wanting to send it to Switzerland before giving me an estimate and getting serviced. To send it to Switzerland is an automatic $75 charge and I am told their factory will provide an estimate 8/10 weeks upon receipt of my watch. When I called up the North America service center the customer service rep I spoke with said she wouldn't be surprised if repairs cost me over $600. Do those prices and turnaround time sound right? The watch belongs to my father and I wanted to have it repaired right, but I wouldn't know who else to send it to. Any ideas on where I could get quality work done on it? Thanks for your help.

They are if you go to the factory. Repairs can exceed $1000 easily. To their credit, it's a complete "remanufacture" of the watch, and they have expensive Swiss guys in lab coats doing the work, but it's total overkill. I can service the watch for you if you'd like, contact me off list.
