Zaf: Thank you so much for your great JLC Serial Number service. I purchased a maximally sweet old LeCoultre Memovox about a year ago. She features original everything and a perfectly clean dial with double-block applied markers at the cardinal points and applied batons between. The movement is a smooth running K-910 17-jewel manual wind. The chime gives her the voice of a summer cricket. The serial number is 754,392. Thoughts on when she was born?

But maybe even more importantly, how do you come up with these dates -- and why doesn't JLC release this information or provide it on their website?

Thoroughly perplexed, Titanos

Actually, I think I can answer my own question. The watch dates to roughly 1951-1952. Peace.

The caliber 910 didn't come out until 1964 or so, so something doesn't add up. It's definitely a 1960s movement; not 1950s.

Completely fascinating! THANKS MUCH, Zaf. I purchased the watch from a serious JLC guy, so I thought he knew what he was talking about. I just re-examined the photos of the movement and I'm thinking I missed the initial 1. Thus, the serial number is apparently 1,754,392. That helps to wipe out some of the disconnect, yes?

This is great news since I'm really more of a 1960s watch fan than a 1950s watch fan. Both decades were great, but a lot of technological advances were being made in those days.

Anyway, your further thoughts on the ol' gal's birthday is most appreciated. Thanks again!

It would be 65-66 in that case.
