Hi there. I am new at vintage watch buying but am afraid I'm going in! I've fallen in love with the very simple Memovox of the late 50's/early 60's. Before I spend way too much I need some advice: My eye has fallen on the cal. 825. How much should I pay for one in a reasonable state? I am not stuck on this cal. though... how about other cal's? Are signed crowns important? How can I tell if the face is original? What are general tips to look for in this type of watch? I realise this is all very vague since I know so little. Any start will help. Thanks, Mike |

PS How much would one pay to "overhaul" a watch as stated above... just in case I find an old one somewhere that needs a little work ;-) |

Hi. There are a lot of 825s. You'd have to be more specific. Values can range from $800 to $10,000. I think a reasonable price for an overhaul, not requiring parts is $150-200, parts can add significantly to that figure as they're difficult to source. |
