Anyone out there have a link to a pic regarding the subject statement? I'm curious what this watch would look like and how useful it would be in that size. JLC claims that they are the maker of the smallest watch. When was this watch made? |

JLC produces the smalles (mechanical) movement, called caliber 101. Its Duoplan style - Two layer design with crown on backside. Its still in production, actually produced since 1929 (if I remember correct). Due to its size its used in Ladies watches, of course. Ilja |

I replied to your response but it didn't post. User error, I would imagine. Anyway, as per JLC, this supposed to be the smallest dial only slightly larger then a match head. Of course I agree on the ladies watch because of size. |

Yes, The caliber 101 is as small as a matchstick head. In addition to being the smallest mechanical movement in the world, the skeletonized version of the cal 101 is also the lightest movement in the world. Here are a couple of pictures of caliber 101 watches that I have owned. The second picture is actually of a Vacheron Constantin watch with a LeCoultre cal 101 movement. I also have a pair of solid platinum cufflinks (laying next to the Mystery Dial watch in the last picture) that have a cal 101 movement watch built into them. Greg

Also less than 2,000 made since 1929. Pretty damn rare. |

wow, very nice. BTW, JLC is my favorite watch-maker too. Thanks. I'll have to post pics of my JLC sometime. ;) |
