Hi Zaf, I'm trading in my JLC Reverso at a local jeweler. I recently (within the last year) had it appraised by the same Jeweler for $6300. When I sent it to JLC service in Winchester, VA back in 1996 to adjust the wrist band size (when I first got it as a gift), the JLC service order had the value at $6300. It is a GTS SS/Gold Reverso, serial #1664125 and the JLC ref # is 250.5.11. It is in great shape because I never wore it. I have several questions for you: 1. What is your estimated street (eBay?) value? 2. Is there an equivalent to a "JLC Blue Book", which I could refer to and use as a reference for my trade-in value negotiations with the jeweler? Basically, I need to be able to point to something and say to him, "Hey, according to this widely recognized industry standard source, this watch is worth $xyz." Is there such a thing, perhaps on the internet even? 3. The jeweler is currently willing to give me $1700 (about 27%) in value. Does this sound reasonable to you? Sorry to hit you twice with this question, but I'm going to try your direct email, too, because time is short (too long to explain) and I'm hoping for a quick answer from you. Thanks so much in advance for your help! --J |

I really don't know what market is on "modern" pieces. Generally they trade as a percentage of retail. If you have a mens watch, I think 27% is too low. |

As a JLC AD and seller of watches for the last 30 + years I would say that more information would be needed to say whether $1,700 was a good trade-in value. First are you paying full price for the watch. How much is the new watch? I asume your reverso is a mechanical, not quartz. without this info it is very hard to judge whether you are getting decent value or not |
