Hello All, I have a watch that my grandfather gave me about 26 years ago. He told me when he bought it, it was the thinnest watch you could buy.

All I know about it is he bought it at the Turler Shop in Switzerland.

The # on the movement is 687889

any information you can give me about the age, movt caliber, and model name would be greatly appreciated. I have always wondered about this watch.

It won't have a name. It may have a case reference number stamped on the insides of the case back. The watch dates to approx 1950. Looks like maybe a cal. 800? Should be stamped on there.

Thanks Zaf! My gradfather did say he got it in 1950. I didn't see anything on the inside of the case back. I will take another look at the movement with a loupe. Thanks for the info and I am looking forward to getting your book. My wife knows it's on my xmas list. I am a watch collector and this JLC started it all.

The movement caliber is usually stamped near the balance wheel, it's easier to see if the watch is not running.

Thanks for the info. The 800 is based on the 480, basically the second generation of the same.
