Hello there !

I've got from my grand-father ( I'm 30 ) a Jaeger chronograph ( and not Jaeger-LeCoultre ) which exactly looks like the recent ones ( except it has no date information ).

Do you know why there's only 'Jaeger' written on it ? Can you tell me more about this ?

I'll take a picture of it and post it there .

Thank you,

Yves.

Edmond Jaeger, French Alsacian half of Jaeger-LeCoultre. The name was used up until the late 1950s early 1960s for chronographs and other instruments. Then everything uniformily became Jaeger-LeCoultre for watches, though Jeager is still used for some instruments like car speedometers (though I don't know if it is still part of JLC anymore).

For Jaeger car instruments (current production) try checking via the German SIEMENS company, it is said their sub-brand VDO or VDO-Dayton controls Jaeger car instruments.
Or you can try to find out more via Peugeot, for example, who are known to use Jaeger instruments.
Sorry thats all we know. Good luck!
