I have an older LeCoultre triple date with moon phase wrist watch. It is in a stainless steel case with a rose gold bezel & crown. My questions are how do I set it and what is its value? It takes a straight pin or needle to push the setters but what do I set first- the day, date or month? Then what do I set secondly, etc. Is there a preferred time of day when I should set it? I have owned it for several years but only wear it occasionally- not more than 2 days in a row. Thus I have never had to set the date & moon features. Now I want to start using it daily. Thanks, Frank B. |

There are two models, one at 33mm and one at a little over 35mm in diameter. The larger one is worth a lot more. As far as setting, on an old calendar watch, the first thing to do is NEVER SET IT when the time is between 10PM and 2AM. This is when the dates are changing and if you quick set it at that time, you can damage the date mechanism. My advice would be to set the watch to about 6PM and then quick set it with a pin that isn't overly sharp. Zaf |

I disagree - I've worked on many Day - date - moonphase movements, including Tri-compax and have yet to find one where the design was such that damage would be done when setting the day - date or month when the switching gears/pins were close to their engagement points. |

Just trying to be on the safe side here, I had a customer damage a JLC caliber 451 in this manner just recently. |
