Hi I have a question for anyone knowledgeble on the topic. I have my father's (passed) prized LeCoultre he loved so much. It was purchased by him before I was born sometime in the 60's, rarely worn, has never been opened, and is all original and working (as far as I know). The crystal is obviously scratched but the dial and things I can see inside are flawless. Couple of questions. First, what do ya think it's worth (obviously)? Second, should I get it recrystalled and polished and cleaned and tuned and such or will that diminish it's value? Thanks! Jonathan. |

Do you know if it is a bumper automatic? i.e. does it bump back and forth when you shake it? |

Nothing, I'm just trying to figure out what it is exactly. A "bumper" automatic with date means you have movement caliber 825, in stainless steel these are worth $1000-$1700 depending on model and condition. As long as you don't touch the cosmetics too much, doing a mechanical restoration and crystal will not dimish the value. |

Gotcha! Hey thanks a lot Zaf. I will get it prettied up and decide whether to sell or keep. My wrist is just too huge for this, I think I need a big omega or rolex to suit me... Any ideas on where to sell something like this? Thanks in advance on my final question (possibly) :-) |

I can consign it for you if you want. Is it running OK? We could do the cosmetics here. |

Runs fine, keeps the time as far as I know. I don't wear it often so I don't keep it wound. Winds up smooth, you can feel when it is nearing the extent of the windup it torques up , alarm works, bump wind works. Where are you located? Are you a watch shop or an online vendor? I'll forward you my direct contact details... Thanks, Jonathan. |
