Hi all,

I am collecting thin-style watches and just purchased a JLC steel which preceeded(?) the Master Ultra Thin series?

ref. : 9124.42
case. : 1409204
cal. : 818/2
movement no. : 2207950

Does the movement correspond to the case number? Can anybody date movement or case? Thanks a lot for any info in advance.

The movement does not correspond to the case #. The movement dates to about 1975, but I'm guessing here...I don't have pinpoint data prior to 1970.

Hi Robert,

this reference first showed up in 1975. So Zafs guess is very good.

Thanks again to both of you.

That's pretty close to the date I had given (mid to late '70). Nevertheless should I mention that ref# and case# were both impressed on the outside of the case.
By comparing a few dozen ref/case# on eBay I must admit that I haven't understood the case-numbering scheme at all. I have found several correspondences as well as non-correspondences according to my watch.

Hi. I'm not sure what you mean by correspondences. However, the case number is almost systematically lower than the movement number. That is, they are not supposed to match.

Hi Zaf,

I found several samples on eBay having a case number lower than the movement number e.g.:

c#= 7xx.xxx / m#=1.2xx.xxx or
c#=1.0xx.xxx / m#=1.7xx.xxx

c#=1.4xx.xxx / m#=2.2xx.xxx (my watch)

That's what I meant by using the term correspondence.

Well, that's what they should have.
The case number is always lower than that of the movement. There is only one model where the case # and the movement # match that I am aware of, every thing else C# < M#.
