This was my uncle's watch. He served in the war, my dad just gave it to me. It is a manual wind, cracked glass, but does work and second hand moves. I haven't tested how well it keeps time. I don't know the gold value as I haven't removed the back yet. Any help with identifying the year perhaps and model and a price to perhaps insure it for? Band is Speigel and the number on the back of the watch is A680513
Thanks, Sue

There is a small marking on the side of the watch also, I can't quite make out what it is? I tried to photograph it but it's not coming out well.

Sue, the 'A' on the back indicates that the case is made from 18k gold. The small marking on the side is probably the 'woman's head' Swiss hallmark for 18k gold. The best way to date it would be from the movement # inside, but the case number and style suggest mid-to-later '50s to me. Don't know the model other than 'dress watch' and others would know more about its value. The case looks 'well-worn' to me, but the dial looks in good shape - would look even better with a new crystal. $1000 ?

Cheers,

Chris
