Hi everyone,

This is my first post on this forum (am an active member on other forums - have mainly been reading this one).

I have this watch and I would love it if someone could held me in identifying it - any information will be appreciated really.

The movement number is 565640 and the case number is 470263.
The watch is Stainless steal, which might not be obvious from the pictures.

In addition it has the following on the inside of the back case:
AL 3/90
W0957
0727/48/93
W193
S12W
S821R
S2406/M

Hi,

the watch calibre is certainly a P480/C and it probably dates around '49/'50, as I have a JLC with the same calibre and case number 470414.

That's great thank you. Do you know what quality this movement is considered to be? It seems like there aren't that many of these around. One think I found very interesting about the watch is that it is made of steel rather than gold and its lugs are quite interesting looking as well. I know the unusual lugs are common for the time but was steel that common these types of watches?

The movements are well regarded so much so that they powered much more expensive brands like Vacheron & Constantion.

Steel is not uncommon in Europe where this watch was likely bought.
