I've just purchased a stock of old movements from a retired watchmaker, amongst which is an almost complete Futurematic in excellent condition. Unfortunately it's missing some vital parts that I cannot source from Jules Borel or anywhere. I need a fourth wheel, which carries the seconds hand and the driver gear for the ratchet wheel. Can anybody help, or suggest where I might get hold of these parts?? |

Sorry, just realized I posted the previous message as a reply. It's supposed to be its own thread. Didn't mean to hijack your thread. apologies. Peter |

I have most Futurematic parts, but they are not cheap! I'd prefer you to have the entire watch serviced, it may be a more cost effective way of getting what you need. |

Hi Zaf many thanks for the reply. Whilst I have no experience of the cal497 I am an experienced repairer and would normally do all my own repairs and servicing. However, it all depends on the cost. I now appear to need a ratchet wheel as well, as Joules Borel can't supply that now. As I'm in the UK, just sending it to you for an estimate doesn't seem sensible at this stage. So to start with, can you give me a ballpark figure for the spares I think I need and another ballpark figure for what you would want to service and fit just those parts. Then I can decide whether I can even go ahead with the restoration. |

For a service with parts you're looking at around $400. I'd really rather do it that way as I have parts in very limted supply. Otherwise your best bet is to try to get a donor movement off of something like eBay. |
