I was given a watch recently by my mother-in-law and need to know a general value for insurance. I'd also love to know the time period that it is from. It was recently re-worked at Hermes Paris, so it looks new, but is not. I am posting a photo and would appreciate any information that you can provide. ![Jaeger LeCoultre womens watch with Hermes casing](http://66.92.151.22/discus/messages/622/4271.jpg) |

Hi Laura, the value depends if the watch is signed Hermes on the back. Also the case material and color is important. For dating the year of production we need to know the movement serial (Perhaps it is shown on your repair invoice?) The model is called Etrier, produced for several decades (1930s up to 1970s). Ilja: Thanks so much for the info. Yes it is signed Hermes Paris on the back, and it has a number of 176643, as well as two jeweler marks too. I think that the color is slightly rose in color, but it's fairly light, if it is rose gold. I really appreciate your assistance with this. I love it, and want to make sure that it is insured for a reasonable amount. Laura |

Pink (or rose) gold are the rarest. The number given is surely the case serial, which may not correspond with JLCs numbering system. The only option to date the watch is the movement serial. But from dial layout Im pretty sure it is a 60s model. Since the watch got a full retailer (or manufacturer) overhaul I estimate the replacement costs with $ 3000. A used and unrestored watch costs ca. $1600+ at Paris watch scene. Its a beautyful watch and my wife loves her Etrier like you do. Ilja |
