Gold Case Jaeger LeCoultre Automatic with a date window and an alarm that rings against the case. I recently had the watch overrhauled and the watch repairman said it quite unique and I should insure the watch. I don't know much about it except my father wore it for as long as I can remember. The case number is 996594 and the movement is calibre K825 serial number 1724027. I would appreciate any information you can supply.

Sounds like the bumper automatic alarm, movement dates to about 1967. Is it all 18k yellow gold?

Thank you for the reply, no the upper is gold and the lower appears to be steel.

Sounds like you have the alarm reference E855, gold top/steel back produced between 1960 and 1970.

Any idea of the value I should place on it for insurance purposes or is it even worth insuring?

Anywhere from $800 to $1400 depending on condition. Should be covered under most homeowners policies, you should just take a picture of it and note the case serial #.
