can anyone explain the movement designator for this watch. It has 12 1/2 LC surrounded by a rectangle as seen in the picture.  |

It is the USA market designation for that movement at the time. In Europe it would have been one of the 4xx series. |

it does have P484/A stamped on the movement. is this a american/europe varient.the inside of the snap back case has swiss made markings stamped on it, but no timed and cased in USA stamped on it. can you explain this. |

The movement is for the USA. If it's an 18k case these were often made in Swizterland, even though the movement is marked LeCoultre for the USA. |

the case is 14k. were these made in swizterland as well. has the LC tree. |

Yes there are 14k Swiss made cases for the USA as well. |

ok. so i have a swiss movement with american and european (ex. 12 1/2 LC and P484/A ) designators on the movement with a 14k swiss made case with all the correct markings. The tree with LC, 0585 in a box, the squrrial, the key with a 3 in it, and LeCoultre Co. with swiss stamped under it, and 14k in a box and (no cased and made in the usa) stamped on it anywhere. is this rare or common with 1940's era Lecoultre watches. |
