I've been enjoying my 'new' Master Mariner about a week, thought I'd post a crude pic of the dial and movement.
Movement K883 (serial # 1667339), Caseback engraved serial # 1052137. Inside of screwed caseback signed LeCoultre, whereas dial and rotor are signed Jaeger-LeCoultre. The k883S was used in the later Geomatics, which differs from this movement in that the S=Stop Seconds, otherwise they appear to be the same (good finish quality, no fine regulation, but both sport the bi-directional wind and instant date change at midnight). I've noticed A LOT of 'Master Mariner' models out there from some of the cruder and sometimes garish LeCoultre versions to the really cool 'Deep Sea' model which sported the same K883 movement. Unfortunately this model which dates to about 1970 came out during the quartz crisis so it was never able to establish itself for JLC. Really has a nice feel on the wrist, reminiscent of an Omega Constellation. Jason |
