This model is known in LeCoultre collector circles as a "Knotted Lug" model. If it ever had a factory model name, that name is long-forgotten. This model began production in the mid-1940s and was made through the early 1950s. It is a popular model with collectors, though it was made in large numbers and is quite common. From the 1924 inscription on the back, I would guess that it was given as a 25-year service gift in 1949. Your watch is likely powered by a 17-jewel caliber 480 manual wind movement (I believe that very early models used a different movement caliber). The cal 480 was also the most common LeCoultre movement produced for men's watches during this era and was a very good/reliable movement Recently, these models have been trading in the $400-$500 in good condition, though the market is very soft right now. Your watch has severe staining/corrosion on the dial & hands and most (educated) buyers would be very worried about possible moisture damage to the movement in a your watch. Because of this, I would expect your watch to fetch half or less of the amount mentioned earlier. |
