Hi - I own the LeCoultre Memovox below. It looks to me like a not-great dial repaint, but that said, I have never seen the raised Roman numerals on any other Memovox dial and wonder about it's authenticity. The (time) winder crown has popped off a couple of times, from the split-stem I assume, and I'm looking for some information/advice on whether to just take it to my watch repair guy, or to get it serviced by JLC. I love the watch, it keeps good time and the alarm works well. The crystal is clean (the blemishes are the byproduct of bad photography). It is labeled 10K Gold-filled. It requires the 1260 crystal compressor to open it up, so I haven't seen the insides since I bought it about 10 years ago. Thanks for your experience and help. Jack

The Roman Numeral dial is quite authentic. They aren't one of the more common dial variations, but I've seen several others identical to you yours over the years. Regarding the frequent crown/stem popping off, the knuckle on the split stem is likely worn. These split stems for the cal 911 are getting harder to find and they come in a couple of different lengths, so you need to make sure to get the right ones. Otto Frei has them (I purchased some a couple of months ago there) but they were quite expensive.... about $60 per piece. Borel or others may also have them. Easily installed by a good local watchmaker, as the JLC factory charges mega-bucks. |
