My father has had this watch in his collection for some time now and I've just taken the interest to find out more about it and it's worth. He's thinking of selling his entire collection and handed me a few watches to research. Any information on this watch would be greatly appreciated. The info I already have is It's got initial engraved on the back with the date of 12-25-50 It's 10k gold filled. Other than that.... I have nothing else. Any idea of it's worth? It's fully functioning. |

The only thing I can tell you is that the model is called "Calendar Moonphase". Pretty original, eh! These are pretty rare. They sell for decent money if original and in good condition. Here an old LeCoultre ad featuring your watch:
Hope this helps, gatorcpa |

This model was actually made in 1949 and was to honor Jacques-David LeCoultre who died a year earlier in 1948. 4500 were made for the US market, and 500 were made for the European market. |

hI; JLC made a quartz replica of this watch in the 80's. I got one from my father, and am looking to buy the original mechanical one. So if you are intending to sell, please let me know. |

JLC also made a mechanical version from (Zaf tells me) vintage cal. 486 parts, in honour of its 150th anniversary in 1983 (see my 'Serie Unique' post). Pricey! Zaf, of the 4500 486/AW movements exported to the USA in 1949, any idea of approximately how many were used in rectangular cases like the one at the start of this thread, and how many were given round cases? |

No, I don't have that info, but guessing the rectangular one seems to be more common, so maybe 2500/2000 or 3000/1500. |

Any opinions out there on which triple date moonphase movement is of higher quality/grade/etc.: cal. 486, cal. 484, or cal. P494? Thanks. |

The highest grade would be the round one with a SBr suffix, for Breguet hairspring. |
