Hi,
here I have a "modern" Reverso showing some detailes I don`t realy understand.

The book "Living legend" states that in the end of 70's or early 80's JLC created a new case for the Reverso, the so called "Classic".

The major differences (looking at the steel case) are the slim line of the swivel case and the different baseplate for the swivel case. I've been told that the new swivel case was fitted to the base sliding in grooves that are no longer accessible from the other side (strap). The groove as well is in a straight shape rather than in a curved as it was with vintage Reverso watches. The base plate of the modern Reverso, so says "living legend", was screwed (three parts) and not welded any more. To take the swivel case from the bottom plate, one has to unscrew the hinges of the base plate.

I happen to have a "modern" Reverso that has a different design and construction to that described in "Living Legend".

The swivel case has the "new" shape" (except of having two grooves and not three) but is fitted to the base plate by the "old" construction of spring based pins (as on vintage reversos). The baseplate has in general the shape of the "modern" Reverso but differing from that is welded as the vintage one (and not screwd). Furthermore this special baseplate has the sliding groves open as the sliding groves of the vintage Reverso have been and are as well curved like on vintage Reverso's.

Does anyone have any idea about these differences to the "normal" reverso Classic? It doesn't fit to the discription given in the book "Living Legend" about the new design of the "modern" Reverso Classic, does it?

Any idea when this watch was build?

The watch seems to be one of the early ones of the "modern" Reverso watches indeed. But the interesting things are the differences from all other "modern" Reverso watches as stated before. The guys in Nuernberg unfortunately are of no assistance about this particular watch. So I thougt you might be ....
