Were the tips of the date hands always red?

Am in the process of tidying up a 1945 464 - it already has a restored dial, but the one possible 'missing' is the tip colour of the date hand (uncoloured at present).

I do note that some of the earlier 451 models appear not to have been red-tipped, hence my question.

Hard to say really, I've seen many without red, so I can't imagine the paint having fallen off on all of them, so I'd say, no, they exist in gold too.
