I have a very nice Powermatic. The movement has been 'serviced' although I've not opened it yet to take a look.

It runs very well except that it stops when the power indication falls to 20 hours.

Is it worth having it taken apart, or given it does run well and is in very good condition, would i be better leaving it alone and tolerating this foible?

I am competent to make modest adjustments or simple overhaul myself, so if this is a small matter I might be prepared to take a look.

Advice from the experts?

Thank you.

Does it run a full 30-35 hrs or does it stop after 20?

It indeed stops at about 20 on its way down. It winds up by bumper (or by hand obv) to 40.

Just to make sure I understand when it hits 20, the watch also stops? or just the indicator stops moving?

The watch stops, so does the indicator. Like it's simply run out of puff...

Try this, get it to 40 THEN wind it manually 25-30 times more. See if you get past 20 hrs on the down side.

The disk isn't really connected to the actual power reserve so if was installed while the watch had some juice it won't read properly.

Zaf, followed your advice and the Powermatic has now performed flawlessly.

Wound it 'past' 40 as you suggested, left it running and the watch has now run down and stopped with the power reserve reading 0.

Thanks.
