i appear to have the same watch as on the front page.the only thing i know about it is my grandfather won it in a shooting contest in the 1960s[he chose the watch over a new shotgun but never wore it].can someone give information [model,year,monitary worth,any history?please?

It's a JLC Memovox reference E855 from the early 1960s. Worth $1000 to $1500 depending on condition.

zaf thankyou.i dont want to waste your time.uponfurther viewing i have noticed my watch is slightly different it has no date on the three oclock position.it is in flawless condition.however has no band he must have used it for another watch.can it be replaced with original?what is the second winding post on the top right for?

The non date version also exists and the watch did not necessarily come with a steel bracelet, most did not. The band is very hard to find, the top right winding crown is to wind and set the alarm.
