I have recently inhereted a Jaeger-LeCoultre clock from my grandmother. Haveing spent the better part of 6 hours researching the net for information, I have learned enough (I hope) to be able to ask the right questions from a knowledgeable source. I have in my possession what I think is called a "baguette" clock of 70's vintage. I'm judging the age of the clock by its style and its oral history. The only identifying mark is the "Jague-LeCoultre" logo printed on the lower right hand corner of the square clock. It has linear clockwork which is, I understand, indicative of the baguette style. It is roughly 5'' X 7'' with what appears to be a stainless steel frame. The time indicators (1-12 o'clock) are of similar metal screwed into the rear glass pane. The only mark on the clock is a stamped 555 located on what I would call the left foot. Please help me find some information about this interesting piece of my collection. I can send a picture to a knowledgeable individual if it would be of help. Thanks.
The inline movements like this have become very popular of late and are fecthing good money. I'd estimate the price of your clock at $500 and up depending on condition and venue. They can fetch > $1000 on a good day if it's a model that is in vogue.
