Hi. I'm compiling LeCoultre and Jaeger-LeCoultre Caliber and serial numbers. If you're at the point where you have your watch open, please email me the following:

- Movement Serial #
- Movement Caliber Number
- Brand: LeCoultre or JLC
- If the back is engraved with a date, send that too,

in exchange I will send you an excel spreadsheet with a few hundred serial numbers and approximate production dates.

Thanks,
Zaf

Have just purchased a late 1950 JLC. Looks like the new master control for lack of a better explanation. I have opened the back and taken down the serial number's.
The back of the case has;
Acier
Inoxdable
LeCoultre Co

Numbers are as follows.
serial number i assume; 1430988
Movement K800 / C.

Look forward to hearing what you come up with.

You have a what is called a "Power wind" model, movement serial number of 974,548 would date it to about 1954.

Keep these numbers coming! I have about 140 now.

Dear Zaf,

I've recently acquired a LeCoultre Automatic, not sure when it was made, how much it is worth, and what model it is... please help. Look similar to the Mark VII model but it has silver plating cover instead of gold, number 3,6,9,12 in gold, hour and minute hand in gold, second hand in blue.

Here is the number from the inner back cover 591502, on the movement read "seventeen 17 jewels unadjusted LeCoultre Co swiss 481

Dear Zaf,
I have just acquired a vintage JLC Stainless Steel Snap-Back Case, Ref.220, silvered dial with painted Arabic numerals, w/blued steel baton hands, auxiliary Second, rectangular decorated 17 Jewel Movement #88418, Cal. 11/LO.(I also made a note that the case # is 102548 but am not sure about it's significance.)
It is a unique piece as the dial is round. Can you tell me when it was made and anything else about the watch and/or movement?
Thanks for your help.

Hi. The watch is round and the movement is rectangular if I understand corectly?

Sounds like an interesting and pretty watch, I can really tell you about the watch without seeing a picture, but an 88,418 serial # would indicate a very early 1930s movement production.

Does that seem consistent with the watch?

I posted a question and a picture on another website that you visit, however I see that you monitor this one more frequently. Also, an gentlemen "phred" has been also helping me to identify this watch.

I took mine to a jeweler and have received the following information

Seriel #: 3527456 / 2109
MUT# 1351328
Caliber 814

I would love any feedback you could provide.

Caliber 814 would indicate an alarm of somekind. It does not necessarily have a model name. Most didn't.

A movement serial number of 1.3M indicates a 1961-1962 production.

Thank you. I will let Phred know that you responded to my post. Also, I wrote up a fairly lenghty post under the name "doubletzer" that detailed my questions. I have also posted a picture on the other site.

Of all the LC alarm watches I have seen, I haven't yet seen one like my grandfather's watch yet. I think it is pretty unique and it is in great condition.

Thanks again.

I know nothing about watches , but I saw one that I really liked and I have been doing research on it . Turns out that it is an old (50-60) LeCoultre . I ended up purchasing it and now it is being sized and appraised . It is 14k , the movement and the inside of the case both say Jaeger-LeCoultre and fabrique Suisse . The number on the outside of the case is 781406 . As soon as my appraisal with the pictures comes back I will be able to post that info . If any one knows anything about this watch it would be appreciated . I called JLC North America and they said they would send the info to Switzerland For further ID. Thank You , Richie

The Caliber P800/C would be the 17 jewel version of the movement fitted with Parachoc shock protection. Looks like you have a British or Australian market watch. Movement serial number would date it to approximately 1956, so either the movement was fitted in the watch at a later date or the inscription was done later.

I have a Jaeger Le Coultre watch. It has gold bands, gold face, and gold hands. On the back of the watch are 2 numbers: 14095.21 and 1391032. The clasp has 750 on it. What does all this mean, and what could this watch be worth.

14095.21 sounds like the case reference number, 1391032 the case serial number and the 750 indicates that the clasp is made of 18K gold. I'd need a picture to try to guess value.

Hi Zaf,
Thanks for doing this. I have been trying to identify these watches for some time.

1. Le Coultre Automatic Alarm movement, 37 mm, 2 crowns. "Seventeen, 17 jewels, Swiss, Le Coultre Co, unadjusted" on movement. This one appears to be 14K solid gold, Am I right? Can you estimate value? Any Model info?

- Movement Serial # (1300272)
- Movement Caliber Number (K815)
- Brand: LeCoultre
- No back.

2. Le Coultre square movement, 19mm wide. "Swiss, Le Coultre Co, Seventeen, 17 jewels, unadjusted" on movement. Can you estimate value? Any Model info?

- Movement Serial # (553300)
- Movement Caliber Number (438/4CW)
- Brand: LeCoultre
- No back.

I also have another watch to date. Do you have any or can you direct me towards any links for dating GP or Gruen watches. Here is the data on the GP.

#. Girard Perregaux Gyromatic watch, 70's look, 40mm wide, stainless steel. "Seventeen, 17 jewels, unadjusted" on movement.

- Movement Serial # (???)
- Movement Caliber Number (460-266)

Thanks
Doug
