hi i recently was given what i believe to be a vintage jaeger lecoultre master quartz led watch. it lacks the JLC logo on the crystal, but otherwise is identical to the JLC watch. it was feebly functioning when i got it, and i removed the batteries to check their type to replace. stupidly, i neglected to note the polarity of the batteries, and the battery wells are not marked. anyone able to shed some light on this for me? here is a pic of the front and back. cheers bruce |

I've had 2 of the JLC Masterquartz LED watches through my store in the last year and had to chase down battery info for them. They are built around the common Hughes LED module that was used by many LED watch manufacturers and use #357 cells. The batteries are placed negative side in (with the spring cover contacting the positive side of the battery) as I recall. Greg |

I happened to have a couple of these JLC Master Quartz LED watches through my shop earlier in the year. They are built around the common Hughes LED module that powered many of the LED watches of the era. The Hughes module used (2) #357 cells. The diagram from the manual (below) shows the proper battery orientation:

Your watch isn't necessarily the JLC model. The missing logo could also have said Wittnauer, as they also issued an identical watch to this one, as shown in the vintage advertisement below:
