On Sunday whilst out at a meeting, I reached up to wind my beloved Mark XI only to find that it no longer had a crown with which to wind it! The last time it was cleaned/serviced 2years ago My local watchmaker informed me that the crown had taken a knock and was no longer sitting square but did not think it would pose a problem - yet without taking a knock on Sunday it looks like the winding stem has snapped and the crown has disappeared. My local maker has proved a magician in the past managing to source parts for my rare early 70's Bulova Automatic, but I suspect this might prove more difficult. What are the chances of finding a replacement crown/winding stem and is there anywhere specific I should contact? I'm based in the UK(Scotland) and would prefer my local watchmaker to carry out the repair if possible but if I had to send to a specialist or back to JLC in order to guarantee an original rather than generic crown, it would be my preference. For reference my Watch is Model 6B/346 S/N 3043/48 it has Fixed Bars - no B97 - MOD Broadarrow Dial - Flat Hour Hands - Movement No: 590522 Thanks for any advice - Stuart |
