I was given this vintage Jaeger LeCoultre watch recently, and hope someone(s) here could help me know more about this watch. The dial is marked Jaeger LeCoultre (JLC), while the inside of the caseback and movement have just the LeCoultre (LC) name. I have a number of questions, the main ones being: (1) Is the JLC vs. LC mismatch normal/ok? If not, how bad is this? If they are parts from different watches that have been mixed, are they from same period, or is it a completely weird match-up? Does this make the watch a non-collectible? (2) Is the dial 'real', ie genuine JLC? (3) The movement is marked P812, has serial # 1191###. I am told that this is from 1956, is this correct? (4) Any estimate for an approximate value of this watch? I have posted below photos of the dial, caseback and movement.

The dial on the watch seems to have nicely refinished with Jaeger-LeCoultre rather, than the "LeCoultre" that should be on there. It's not that expensive a watch anyways, so no real hard done, other than it is techincally "incorrect". |

Thanks Zaf. Am I right to think that its better to have the watch with an original but refinished dial, than a dial from a different watch? What would you place the value at, below $500? or ? |

Below $500 for a time-only, gold plated round LeCoultre would be a safe bet. I think your dial looks nice as it is. So I wouldn't worry about it. I have a LeCoultre dial that is for the caliber P812 if you want it, it's yours. Needs to be refinished. |

I found this Memovox 814 in the back of my dad's dresser drawer after he passed away. I got it fixed up and wear it all the time. I know it's from the 50's, but any help with more specific identification would be appreciated. Calibre: 814 Serial # 1058449 Case #2572556 10kt gold filled Thank you so much. The back is engraved with his name (which is also mine) so this was a real found treasure. |

I was told that mine was from 1956, and the movement serial number is 112xxxx, so your watch should be just from around there 1954 - 56 would be a reasonable guess? It looks beautiful, and since its from your dad, plus the engraved name - just about as perfect as you can get! |
