Dear Zaf, I found a Le Coultre Reverso with a cal. 437, that supposedly was sold in NY and dates from 1948. I enclose 2 pictures. I bought your book on JlC end while doing some research on the watch I notices that the date 1948 corresponds with the movement serial number 520690. However in your book, all Reverso's with a low serial number on the case (this watch has serial number 13283) date from the (early) thities. Do the case and movement in this watch belong together? I am looking forward to your reply. Best regards, Erik |

Please post photos. If it isn't a Swiss case, it could have a low serial number, otherwise it should be lower than the movement serial number but reasonably near the serial # of the movement. The serial number list in the book is for movements, and is +/- 1 year. |

Dear Zaf, Thanks very much for your swift reply. I tried to sent the two pictures, but they seem to be to large. I will try agian. Aacoording to the information and the papers added to the watch, the watch (and case) are Amarican. I think I succeded in maker the pictures smaller. Best regards, erik |

Dear Zaf, The dial says: "REVERSO LECOULTRE" on top of the dial, and - in a smaller print: "Swiss"below at the dial under the line under de number "30"(at 6 o'clock). I hope the picture is still large enough to see. Erik

OK. Are these box & papers you show original to the watch? It's unsual to have "Jaeger-LeCoultre" papers, with an American watch from 1948. It would be very strange to me. They almost appear to be service papers rather than what it came with. if it says "LeCoultre" it can mean one of 2 things: 1. Pre-1937. 2. USA Market. The dial you are showing is consistant with a pre-1937 watch. They added "LeCoultre" whereas the previous model only had "Reverso" on the dial.. If the watch is the USA market, it **may** be possible that it had a USA made case with a different serial numbering scheme than the what one would expect. As it looks right now, the case is pre-1937 and the movement is 1948. |

Dear Zaf, Thanks for your reply. I have my doubts about the papers and box. If thje watch was sold in Europa before 1937, the namer Jaeger le Cpoultre would not have been used I presusme. If the watch was sold in the USA, I expewct they would only have put the name LeCoultre on both box and guarantee form would they not? The seller states that the dial is a "restaurated"I expect this a eufemism for "redail". Is there some way I can check whether the movement is replaced? Erik |

Oh...I thought this was a watch you have owned for a long time. If this is a watch you are considering buying, I'd look for another one. Inclusive of the box & papers, it seems like there are components of 3 watches in there. |

Dear Zaf, Thanks for your help and advice. I agree with your conclusion that that the watch seems to be a compilation.I will not buy it. Best regards, Erik |
