I'm thinking of buying this watch, supposed to be a WW2 vintage steel JLC purchased at a Post Exchange...but the movement number P468 isn't listed on the vintage calibres list. Is it real? How much do you guys think it's worth? Any info/background on this watch would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Too many variables here, you'll need to post some pictures.

Well, it's real JLC, but there is nothing military about it, it is a civilian watch.

Thanks, I was told that it was for sale to soldiers at Allied Post Exchanges during the war.....and not military issue as such. I'm looking for a good period watch, that's all. It seems to be in quite good condition. How much would such a watch normally sell for? Thanks.

Oh, one more question....would it be difficult to find an authentic, or authentic-looking strap for it? How would I go about finding out what strap came originally with that watch? thanks

Hi Chocoball,

those are worth between $400 and $700, depending where you buy and of course its condition.
Regarding military provenance, a lot of sellers *create* legends to raise the price. ;)
For a strap, I suggest to look for something that matches your personal taste, 1940s straps often were made of pig skin. Not sure what lug size your watch has, but if it is 17mm what is very typical for JLCs, your choice of straps (at justified prices) is limited.
