Picked one up recently, cannot find any info on this model. I was able to find one other example of an automatic Galaxy, but that one had a pop on caseback and straight lugs, where as mine has a screw down caseback and tear drop lugs. I'll post few scans later on. Just curious if any one has any info on such a model. Thanks, Vlad |

I've seen the 36-diamond Galaxy Auto screwback models many times. What info you specifically looking for? Greg |

Basic stuff - 1) production date; 2) scans of correct dials - to compare to mine to determine if mine is original or a redial; 3) was there an evolution of this line or just a single model; 4) where they all bumper autos; 5) scans of correct crowns - mine has a no-label crown; 6) general interesting facts about this model. Thanks, Vlad |

1) approximately mid 1950s to early 1960s on the automatic versions 2) If you'll provide a good scan of your dial, I can probably tell you if orig. 3) There were a wide variety of Galaxy models made: manual and auto, men's and ladies', yellow gold & white gold, solid gold and gold-filled, many lug styles, fluted/non-fluted center disk, plain or textured or diamond bezel (Royale model), many more variants. The autos came in several versions, as well, with the white gold snapback models being most common. 4) All autos were cal P812 bumpers. The manual wind versions of the Galaxy (men's) used the cal 480/CW but they switched to the cal 818 in the 1970s for some of the last Mystery models made. 5) I've seen both signed (LeC) crowns and plain crowns on examples that appeared original. My assumption is that some models left the factory with plain crowns. 6) Pictures of the the box and papers supplied with the Galaxy models are shown below:

Your dial appears to be original (not refinished). I think this was the last question that was left unanswered. Greg |
