Hi there, This watch was left to me a couple of years ago, although I love JLC's, gold watches are not really my thing, so I'm thinking about putting a nice strap on it and just wearing it for dressy occasions. I have tried to find info out about it, but with no joy. It is stamped 807659 A on the back of the case, inside the back it has LeCoultreCo, 1926 and number 59 stamped on. As far as I can see on the movement it says w 593491, it's 18k gold. I'd like to know if perhaps I should insure it, so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks |

And here's the movement if it helps. Thanks again. |

I've just noticed that the movement has Jaeger LeCoultre on it whereas the back has only LeCoultre. I know JLC wasn't established until 1937, so maybe the watch isn't as old as I thought. Still, any info would be well appreciated. |

Take a look at the movement serial number again, something doesn't add up. Thanks. |

Thanks for the reply Zaf, The number I gave is the one that in the photo is at the top of the movement and is upside down as you look at the photo. I did wonder if there's more before the W, although on closer inspection it's not a W, I can't work out what it is, and the 1 could be a t, but I'm pretty sure it's a 1. Are you thinking it"s too many digits to describe a movement? I can't see any more markings, unless there's somewhere else I should be looking. Zaf, when you say ' something doesn't add up', what are your thoughts. Thanks again for your time. |

I don't think there are enough digits. The movement serial number is usually higher than that of he case. |

Would it make a difference if what I thought was a W was actually 1 1, making the number 11593491. My magnifying glass is at work so I'm blowing the image up in iphoto and there's a small blemish in between what could be 1's, which is why i thought it was a W or M. |

Make that "W" a single "1" and it fits the system. Produced around 1963. |
