Hello. I am looking for a replacement dial for a Porthole Futurematic, signed either LeCoultre or Jaeger-LeCoultre. Thanks |

The Futurematic is a highly collectible watch. Since it was several unusual features, please read on: 1. The LeCoultre Futurematic is a special historic watch. In 1953, it was the first "fully automatic" watch not requiring a winding stem or crown. It is back set, sliding the back button inward allow you to set the watch. The watch may stop (temporarily) with the button inward or rotating the hands counter clockwise on some models. To resume operation, slide the button out a gentle tap may also be necessary in some cases. 2. The bumper action is quite loud and this is normal. The wind indicator will point to 12 o'clock when the watch has no power reserve, when fully wound, it is normal for the wind indicator to point to approximately to 9 o'clock. **** Very Important *** When watch is fully wound, the watch stops winding. DO NOT FORCE THE ISSUE BY TRYING TO WIND THE WATCH BEYOND ITS LOCKING POINT. This will require an inevitable repair, and if a part is broken, you may be out of luck as Futurematic parts are becoming VERY scare. 3. If you are not familiar with the internals of a Futurematic, DO NOT attempt to open it to examine the movement. The back set mechanism depends on how the movement is seated inside the back of the case. Improper seating with cause the setting mechanism to stop working. 4. Futurematics are relatively fragile watches, it is best to avoid wearing during any sporting activity, etc. That said, I've had about 50 of these remarkable timepieces and I hope you enjoy your watch! |

Some more info regarding point 2. as said by Zaf regarding the Powerwind on the Futurematic. On some Futurematic watches there is an indication which says 0-10-20-30-40. As Zaf said on maximum power reserve the indicator stops at "9" or 30. This is because the caliber 497 has a maximum power reserve of 30 hours. The watches will NEVER reach 40 or "12/24" while fully wound! |
