Dear all,

I'm interested in buying a JLC Mark XI assigned to RAAF (G6B year '53) but I've got some doubts:

- the bar are fixed while I've read that RAAF were required and supplied with removable spring bar;
- I'm concerned about the radioactivity emissions related to the dials and hands which were in radium: how about removing the hazardous luminescent?
- can you inform me on a reasonable range of price I should pay for that Mk XI?

Thank you and best regards

Below a picture of the mentioned Mk XI

The '49 Aussie delivery came with fixed bars, but these got drilled out later.
Perhaps someone "repaired" the case or it is old stock. Some are just completed from remainings... Not really a reason to be bothered.

Personally I don't care about the lume material and as long you don't eat it it should be ok.
Always better to keep a dial in original condition from a collecting point of view.

How many came your way lately? This kind of watch
is a rare bird, so pricing depends on your pockets
and what it is worth to you. Maybe $5000.

Just saw the other pictures you posted in the military forum.
Case is as a '49 Aussie should look like except the bars which are a later "restauration attempt"
or are spring bars just appearing like fixed bars.
