I come by a JLC Powermatic (small window at 12 showing power reserve), gold filled ,snap back. On the back of case (outside) it bears the markings : "Master Mariner 1200" and "Use Lecoultre Wrench". I don't have proper tool to open it so that that is all the information I have at this moment. My concern is: Has JLC ever used a Master Mariner case to house a powermatic movement ?

Actually, they have. Is it a JLC or a LeCoultre? The 481 was made in 100,000 examples, so there is a lot of variety.

Thanks Zaf. It is a Le Coultre, 34-35mm without crown in diameter. How can I open this case? What is a 1200 wrench?

Sounds like it is a one piece case with split winding stem. You'd need to take the crystal off, drop the movement 45 degrees and pull the split stem apart. The movement will then drop out.

If you haven't done this before, don't try it you can easily break the female part of the split stem.
