Zac - I've read in past advice that you say the click of the bumper on the Futurematic is loud and this is ok - but how loud is loud as on mine it is a bit louder on one side than the other, and it's quite a hard click - how would one know if one had a problem - thanks M.

It really is a "clack clack" kind of sound. It's hard to say if you have a problem or not. On some later models they're cushioned a little better, so perhaps one side isn't doing as well as the other, but as long as it's running OK, I'd leave it alone.

Thanks Zaf - just what I wanted to hear - as a matter of interest can you explain what / how the cushion / bumper action work on these watches, is it fixed or sprung in some way? - thanks again Marten.

One the early movement there is no cushion, so they clack clack loudly. On the later ones there are small feelers that protrude just enough to cushion the rotor mass from hitting the main mouement plate slightly. Maybe one of these is broken...but I still would not mess with it if all else is OK.

Thanks again Zaf - How can I find out more about these movements as I find them quite interesting - will your book have in depth detail and when do you expect it to be available? - regards Marten

I am buying a 1956 futurematic. I am told it is 14 k . Where will it be stamped? Does this model have the cushioned bumper?

The 14k model will be stamped inside the case back and in between the lugs. I do not believe the tops are intercheable with the gold filled ones. Wether is has the "slightly" cushioned bumper or not will depend on how early it is. How do you know it is from 1956?

I need to have my futurematic repaired. Do you have any suggestions where I might send it?
Thank you
