Hi,

Can you help me identify this watch? I've been hired to handle an estate for a woman whose grandmother passed away. I'm assuming the band is not original, but it is dated 1926 so I'm thinking the watch was made earlier than that?

Can you give me any information about it and an approximate value?

Also, how long should I expect it to run after winding? It seems to be keeping accurate time but I'm afraid to wind it too tight and it runs for less than 12 hours.

I'll be grateful for any information!

A. Lecoultre Watch

Hello,

I'm still not quite sure if "A. LeCoulte" is a LeCoultre/Jaeger-LeCoultre product. According to the factory it is not, but their old records are incomplete at best. These watches are most often found in the American market cased in American made cases. I suspect it was a line of watches that LeCoultre marketed up until the 1920s, but I can't say for sure.

Back to your particular example:
14k Warranted implies that the case is sold 14k gold. If think as far as value, you're still looking at a function of gold weight, roughly on the order of gold value + say $100-200 total for the watch + band.

I just don't see a Ladies A.LeCoultre being all that high on the desirability scale for it to fetch a really high price, but it is a nice deco piece and a nice piece of jewelry too.

As a follow up, this piece will have better luck marketed as a piece of jewelry rather than to a watch collector.

Running time on a full wind should be at least 35 hrs.
