Dear all, recently bought a Jaeger-le Coultre chronometer off a carboot sale and having never been "lucky" and dropping on a bargain im begining to fret! the watch in question says jaeger le coultre chronometer on the dial, its is a stainless steel case of approx 40mm length X 35mm wide. the lugs for the strap are 20mm appart. The dial is black witha center seconds hand with to subsiduary dials at 12 and 6 (does that make sense?) top dial is hours marked at the quarter half and hr in roman numerals and the bottom dial is for minutes and marked 10,20,30,40,50,60 . ive had the the back off (it screws on) it has an automatic movement (the rotor is marked jaeger le coultre and has the company JL logo) and behind the balance wheel is stamped the following HX 2789-1 id really like to know more about this watch (what its for, its age and most of all ....have i bought a pup) thanks for reading this and i genuinely look foreward to reading your replies (good or bad) best wish to all Rob Rouse p.s i paid 50 for it |

Dunno, can you post a photo, especially of the movement? Just use the upload attachment button. |

Hi Rob, I guess Zaf gave the answer some weeks ago, when he posted this: http://www.classicwatch.com/discus/messages/2234/2307.html?1087783723 From your description it seems to be such a beast, coming out of the UK lately... Be happy you just wasted GBP 50 for this lesson of spoting fakes. Well, here is a REAL JLC Chronometer, Zaf offers for sale at the moment, just to give you an idea of Craftmanship. http://www.classicwatch.com/graphics/mptzx0103.jpg Ilja |
