Original crowns: No Original dial: Yes. Quite badly damaged Value: It sold for $1.226, so I guess it is what the buyer was willing to pay for it... |

I paid $1226.00 It is original condition. I'll get the crowns and clean it up, and it will look great. |

I would be curious to see how that dial will come off when 'cleaned up'. I hope you will post pictures of the 'after', but as far as dial cleaning is concerned, it looks like a very tough job to me (actually more a case for a full dial refinishing IMHO). |

I like only like vintage watches with original dials. Once I restore it it will look very nice. New crystal, crowns, clean dirt off the dial etc... |

a profane question perhaps, but how does does badly tattered $1226.00 memovox run &c? lookswise I wouldn't have bid half the amount. |

If (and only if) you have a good spare dial AND the watch is mechanically sound, then this is not too bad. Otherwise, the cost of having it fixed, which will likely give an average result ultimately, is just not worth it. |

All I can say is show me your memodate automatic. And what did you pay for it? |

I just sold a nice one for $2200, nice original dial, replacement crowns. I'm not sure if this model is actually called the memodate. That's usually reserved for the wind up model with date. |

Here is one of mine. Of course I paid more than you did for it. But I doubt you can achieve a good restoration of yours without a new dial. However, if you have one and if the watch is in good running condition, then you might have made a good deal.
(I also agree with Zaf that this is not a Memodate) |

Zaf is correct in stating that the manual wind model powered by the cal 911 is the only model ever officially named the "Memodate". Greg |
