As it would so happen, I was passed my JLC from my mother and would like to find out more information about the watch itself. I've searched to no avail so far and this looks like the best chance I've got to finding my answer. The watch itself is a Memovox; stainless steel body with the back casing bearing the JL GT Speedbeat inscription and the model number (i think) 127.70.45 E873 (i'm kinda reading this through the blue waxy backing. Would just like to find out more about the watch itself (ie. circa manufacturing date) and dare i ask, worth anything? (not that i'm selling, purely out of interest). All i know is that it's older than myself (26y.o). Thanks in advance! |

Hi there. I have from the factory archives, a production figure of 1,000 made from 1970-? So, it's a fairly uncommon watch. Any chance at a photo for us to see? |

Hi Zaf. Thanks so much for the reply. Didn't really come as a huge suprise it was from the 1970's as mum told me that she bought it after her wedding before she had me. As for photo, ask and you shall receive. Sorry the quality isn't that good, my photographic skills aren't exactly great; but you'll get a feel of the watch. As for production runs, you mentioned a run of 1000. What's a usual model run like? Thanks again!

Oh and while i'm at it. Just another very simple question. How would one classify my watch? I mean, it's a Memovox (i gather that from the front dial). But in regards to the GT on the back and the Speed Beat thing how do i go about naming the watch? Or is it simply just a Memovox? Apologies in advance for the innane questioning. ![:-)](https://www.classicwatch.com/discus/clipart/happy.gif) |

1,000 in on the low side for JLC, the more common models were made in the 50,000 range. |

Name it Memovox GT. Movement is a cal. 916, 28.800 beats/h. Shock protected. Direct center second. Also came with a blue dial. Guess the bracelet is signed as well, right? Your Mom had a good taste back in 70s. Congrats! Ilja |

Hi Ilja, Thanks for the additional info.I've had the watch for about the last 8 years (since 18) sitting in my drawer. Never really thought of bringing it out to wear. I mean, I knew it was a JLC, but bein on the 'young' side, i always (still) usually wear my Tag. *gasp* One thing i didn't get though is what you meant by the bracelet bring signed? Are you referring to the Patent Number something like: "NSA Steel Inox Pat:434845" Will pass your comments about my mum's good taste onto her.. Cheers. |

Hi Stephan, well, I meant if the bracelet (actually the clasp) is signed with JL or something similar. I was just curious if the bracelet originally belongs to this watch. Since you asked for its value, an original bracelet adds about $100-150 to its value. Given the bracelet is correct, the watch is worth about $1200+ Ilja |

Hi again Ilja Hehe, I sorta understood what you meant by the bracelet as soon as i finished posting my last message. The JL moniker is on the other side of the "NSA Steel..." backing that I was referring to before (silly me); so it's an original bracelet. As for the value, thanks for the reference. This watch has sentimental value far beyond; yet to be human,it's always to know. There's no 'easy' way to change date on the watch, is there? I spent like 5 minutes cycling forward through the time last weekend when I decided to wear it for the first time in 4 years. Should i keep the watch running (since it's not my daily wearer) or just let it stop and put it back in storage until the next 'special' event? Is it better for the watch to keep it running? As explained before, I'm a novice when it comes to such things. All i know is that i love my JLC.. Thanks for all the help people thus far. It's been GREATLY appreciated. |

Hi there. The caliber 916 is a "semi quickset" in that, if you move the hands back and forth between 11:00 and 12:00 (that is 23:00 and 24:00), this will change the date rather than requiring a full 24 hour rotation. Zaf |
