Does anyone have any idea of the current market value of a LeCOultre Polaris? I seem to recall seeing dealer's ads some years ago - in Germany, I think - with prices in the $6,000-plus range. However the watch is so rare it seldom seems to come on the market. Can anyone provide up-to-date info on prices?

Last one I saw at an auction house in Europe sold for 5.900 (hammer price) in April this year, and it was in fairly good condition.
(the estimate was 8.000-10.500)

On the other hand I see some sellers offering it up to 18.000 (not sure at what price they actually sell them for)

Anyway, this watch has definitively reached the point where it is way overpriced IMHO

Thanks, Clavi. Most helpful. I wonder if you - or anyone else - could give me the names and addresses (phone nos., too, if poss.) of auction houses that would deal in the Polaris. Thanks again!

There are many auction houses which might occasionally feature one or another watch.

Of course you have the regulars:
Christies, Sotheby's, and now the almost dead Antiquorum.

In the case of the Polaris I mentionned, it was a Danish auction House:

So, if you are in the market for this watch, you have to do some homework and look around a lot.

Last price point I have for one nice one is 10,000 Euro, the watch sold in the same day for 11,500. So 5,900 was quite a "bargain".

I also passed on a crappy one with a modified back for 5,000 Euro, so the range is quite big.

And this crappy one is now for sale for 9.990
It is very crappy indeed if we speak about the same watch :-)
