Hi Zaf,
i've got better pics of the erly tavannes reverso that i would like to submit to your judgement (Ilja's one is very welcome too)
Can you give me your fair judgement and possibly price range?
Thanks
Jacopo

Nice photos, thanks for the post.

Ilja knows more about these than I, but given the new photos, I do agree that the dial is redone and that the crown is a replacement. I don't think that's a huge issue since on this dial, the print is raised and a more corret crown should be easy to find. I'd say value is $1800 to $2000. The Tavannes powered Reversos are definitely less valuable than the LeCoultre powered ones, even though they came out first.

Hi Jacopo,

this is definately a very very nice example. Congrats!
The case seems to show no much wear, clearly visible on the triple stripe design at the edges.
So from its overall condition, the dial *could* be original. Like Zaf already mentioned, a redial job on this particular dial style isnt a huge issue, since the numberes are raised.
From scans it is hard to tell if a dial is redone. :-)
Also agree on the value.

Ilja

Ilja is the man! Funny what the reactions are, the new photos made it look more like a redial that the original photos. I guess someone is going to have to see it in person!

Either way it looks like a pretty nice piece.

Redial or not, that is the question !

well, in the case of such a nice reverso (with raised numbers and minutes track), I think the redial question is not so important (as it looks perfect IMHO).

And, as Ilja told me once "put the dial a few minutes in freshly brewed tea, and it's not a redial anymore"...

I have bought recently a reverso dial, surely not redial given the condition (or someone did keep it in the tea mugg way too long !!!)

Clavi (waiting to receive his own Reverso-Tavannes probably tomorrow ! )
