my grandfather left me a clock, that only shows "jaeger" in the brand. it has a chronograph, with the dial calibrated to tell speed in one minute ("calcule par 1000 metres", it says. it is open faced, and the serial number inside is 85785. can you tell me the fabrication year and wether it is of any value?

Some pictures that might help... The serial number was included in my first post. I think the clock is a beauty, don't you?

In case it helps, I just found a LeCoultre that is almost identical, save the dial design and signatures, at http://www.classicwatch.com/

The face is different, but the overall design and mechanism is the same, but with signatures in this case. Is described as 15 jewel (which probably mine have to then), nickel (again, probably the same as mine), and circa 1920. Do you think mine would be older or not? I mean, because of the Jaeger signature instead of Lecoultre.

I would really appreciate your help.

Your dial is in poor condition and will adversly effect the value of the watch. It is from the mid 1930s.

The enamel dials are not really repairable unless you re-fire them. I've never attempted such a thing but my understanding is that it is quite expensive and no one knows how to do it properly.
