First let me say this forum is a wealth of information, I've learned alot from posts I've read. Anyway, my dad gave me his watch for my 31st birthday and I wanted to know more about it. Year, Current value, etc.

I don't know where my dad got it from, all I do know is that he had the crown (twisty thing that winds the watch) replaced at a watch repair place, I believe it was missing? Forgive me, I never knew anything about watches until 2 days ago. I tried to take pictures of the inside as best as I could.

The watch is 14k, on the inside case of the watch it says "Cased and timed in USA - 14k gold, L&K, 2924

What does the L&K and 2924 mean? Also, what is the small writing on the inside of the case? It looks like teeny little numbers and writing. Does it mean anything?

The inside pic was a little difficult to get a clear one so I used my moms glasses to magnify.

It has the following: 843253 (serial number?)481 17 jewels unadjusted Automatic.

It has a weird gold tone band on it: JB Champion, Patent Pending. Is that original or not?

What year do you think it is from and what is the value? I saw a similar one on Goantiques for $1350 but I am no expert by any means.

Approx how many of these were made and were they very common? I think it is a very nice piece.

Anyone with info, please shed some light, I would be most appreciative. Thanks in advance for looking.

1950s, $900 - $1200 if the dial is a nice original dial is about right, they made almost 100,000 of these movements, so it's fairly common, though it is hard to say how many survived.
