Can someone identify a circa 1971 JLC, 18K case, manual wind, center seconds with model number F 20004 or 70004 or 50004?
Watch was purchased from Asprey, London and was later stolen but I still have the JLC booklet and Asprey box it came in.

Maybe someone with UK market catalog from late 1960's or early 1970's can help?
Best Regards,
Elias

I think is is most likely to be an E20004.

The "E" designates a waterproof case, so would have been either a scre back or a mono-block.

I acquired a mens REVERSO LE COUTRE - gold case ostrich band, rectangular face cream-colored with gold hands and numbers. On the back of the white metal case holder is engraved "PATENT ACIER STAYBRITE FAB SUISSE" and the number "29301". When the watch is flipped over, the reverse of the gold case has an enamelled crest with the banner words "HAEC MAJORUM VIRTUS". I don't know how to open the case so I can't describe the inner works (not that I know anything about watches anyway...). Any info? Thanks.

Hi. Acier stay brite indicates stainless steel...how is it a gold case? Is it two tone? Gold center and steel back?

Zaf - Thanks for response. I'm a bookdealer and great at describing antique books, but at a loss with anything else. The part that houses the watch and is directly attached to the band is stainless - the watch thing that includes the face which flips over and also includes the winder, the crest on the verso (aha! an overlap with my field! The other side of a book page is also a verso) etc. is yellow gold. There's a tiny engraved marking in the gold at the top of the case which appears to be an etched rectangular shape and stamped "4/10". Whew. I have the utmost respect for you horologist types...everything on the watch is so darn small. Hope this helps.

Ok, it looks like a two tone Reverso, stainless & gold. It may be an interesting piece...what is your question? From the case serial # it appears that it is a 1930s watch. The gold will be determined by what kind of hallmarks it has on it, 18k or 9k (British Market). I'm not sure 14k heads exists, but anything is possible.

Thanks again Zaf. I was just interested in its vintage as it relates to several books that I purchased from the same estate. Also - am not planning on keeping it - it was part of a complicated negotiation for several very rare books. Any advice on deaccessioning it? I can take digital photos and upload them for further review.
