I would like to know if anyone has seen a Memovox like this one? Its gold I dont know if its 18 or 10k as the back reads *10 k gold filled. The only other marking on the back reads use all proof wrench 1335 the watch face is a glossy black and is labeled Le Coulrte. The crown at 4 oclock has the JL logo on it. I have seen a bit of talk on the forum regarding repainted faces and such so I would like to know if this watch was manufactured black or has been modified. I have done allot of searching but have not found one that looks like mine to tell.

I am also a bit confused as to the difference of JLC and the LC, does a different company make the watch? Is a LC made in the same place as a JLC just a different label for the USA such as the case of an Acura NSX the rest of the world buys a Honda NSX but its built by the same people.

What would I expect to pay to have the crystal replaced at the current one is quite scuffed?

The pictures I have taken a few minuets ago are not great but I will try for new ones if needed.

Thanks

Steve

I can't see too much from the photos. If your camera has a macro mode (usually has a tulip symbol), use it without a flash, and with a tripod or brace. Your pictures will be much clearer.

Your analogy of Honda/Acura is close but not entirely accurate. JLC versions have Swiss made cases which were usually of a little better quality. Today, the JLC version usually sell for more do to the name recognition with the current incarnation of JLC.

The LeCoultre brand was a division of an American company called Longines-Wittnauer Co., Inc. The same company also marketed Vacheron & Constantin in the USA.

The movements were imported from Switzerland and generally (but not always) placed in US made cases. I have several LeCoultres and they are very accurate, even though they are more than 50 years old.

This subject has been debated on this and other watch forums for years. Here is a link to one of them. Please follow all the links, as there is a lot of information on the relationship between JLC and LeCoultre here:
